Giving new meaning to the definition of empathy. The last six months I envisioned myself in Ben Joppe. This is a painter (1915-2007) that set up a foundation shortly before his death. Its goal is to give support to people and/or organizations in the field of Dutch symphonic and/or instrumental music. After he passed away, it appeared as if he had been making hundreds of paintings. The idea is to sell them, so that the foundation can begin with starting up many of its planned activities.

But how do you promote a painter that isn’t alive? My answer: by resurrecting the painter from the dead. First of all I did some research. Marty Bax also wrote a biography with the help of Guido Pera. In this bio you can read different quotes. Also I collected the most striking paintings and I got the image material of the exhibitions of 2011.

Next I made a Twitter and Facebook and restyled the account. Here I maintained the website BenJoppe.nl.  Later there also came a YouTube account, Google+ and a LinkedIn account with it. Then I tweeted and Facebooked as if I was Ben and blogged together with someone who knew Ben. The result: a reach of thousands of contacts. The first exhibition was highly visited. The were dozens of people who asked where Ben was. My climax: at the exhibition I came across the brother of Ben Joppe.

PR agent Jennifer Delano became the winner. Through Twitter she won two days of a fully inclusive trip. Hotel HR Daaldersplaats www.daaldersplaats.nl  in Sneek gave this prize as a result of the current Twitter behavior. Social Media PR activist Jennifer decided not use the price herself however giving this away to make someone else happy!

On Sunday, February 12 Jennifer donated her prize to someone from her church. He appeared very happy with it. Below the youtube of the ceremony and the whole story:

It is great to know and especially a little bit more than the rest. Don’t we all love that? However,

in the working area it is far better to keep on asking the right questions and to find the common grounds.

It is easy to get published when you’re new. When you’re new, you’re news. And news gets published!

One way to start is for you to submit yourself to various websites. A nice start: submit as a starting entrepreneur (in other words, send a press release containing the news of your start-up) for the Chamber of Commerce’s Hallo! magazine. This is the magazine of the Chamber of Commerce, where the most extraordinary corporate news is published.

Of course you can also go there with your special story or business office. You can also give a lot of advice (unsolicited or not) and see how the competition is doing.
